As we approach the EDEO's Annual Convention, I wanted to discuss the next phase of the archives and history project. For the last few months, Georgia and I have been carefully mining the diocese's collection, sorting, describing, and creating content lists for each box. I have developed an Excel spreadsheet for the archives, utilizing standard terms for resource description (e.g. title, creator, date, description, etc.). Should we decide to invest in a content management system sometime down the road, and the program has an import tool, this data could be transferred. While working as the Bishop's Secretary, Diane Adams developed a similar spreadsheet for the archives. It is my hope to complete the work she started. Thank you Diane and Georgia for your excellent work on the archives.
We are moving in the right direction with our basement storage. Thank you to Jerry and Laurence for getting the ventilation system installed. The basement really needed it. Next, we'll see if we can find new homes for the furniture still stored in the basement. When the basement finally gets sorted out, we can begin developing the space into a storage for the diocese. At that point, you will be able to list the storage facility as a back up repository on your disaster plans.
