Here is the first scanned glass plate negative from EDEO's digitization project. The plates are part of a series displaying a specific town somewhere in America. Can you guess where? The mystery for this month has multiple aspects, and answering some of the questions should be simple. First, where was this photograph taken? There are plenty of clues to help answer that question and I'm sure a quick search could help us figure out where and possibly when this photo was taken. The first clue I notice is the name of the building on the left, "The Hub" as well as the title of the glass plate "Ulm House". Run this information through a search engine, and leave a comment with your answer. Once we determine the who, what and when information of this photo, perhaps we can then ask ourselves a more challenging question: why are these glass-plate negatives even in our collection? Stay tuned for next months photo with another image from this series.

About the History's Mysteries Page
Historical mysteries are all around us. On this page, we'll focus on primary and secondary source evidence to examine cultural and historical shifts throughout the EDEO. Feel free to leave comments, questions or ideas on the mysteries and questions you find here. You will notice that not all entries are mysteries, but rather questions which lead to new insights on the diocese. Our goal here is to honor the practice of historiography.
