Our first case involves a headstone (see photo below). The headstone is located in Cove, Oregon at Ascension School behind the Bishop's Office, on what used to be Louis Perkins' property. Based on the dates, we know that these individuals died around the time that the property was a girl's school (and long before Louis lived on the property). I believe the names on the headstone are Henry Holmes (d. 16 December 1877) and L.P. Holmes (d. 3 July 1892). I dug away some of the grass to uncover the first name. What can we discover about these people? What is their story? Are they really buried there? If not, where are they buried? I found this link to a photograph of Henry Holmes' tombstone in the Cove Cemetery. This led me to wonder whether these individuals were even buried behind the Bishop's Office at Ascension School. What do you think?
